Victims of Ink was established in 2009, initially located on Bay St in Port Melbourne. In 2011, the second studio opened its doors on Chapel St in South Yarra, and has since become the creative home to around a dozen talented artists from around the world. With each artist covering a diverse range of styles and artistic visions, Victims of Ink is dedicated to turning clients' ideas into high-quality, beautiful tattoo designs.
Shop Manager Tobias sought to challenge the conventions of typical tattoo studios. Many parlours have an intimidating and harsh ambiance, with his goal to create a welcoming and sophisticated online and in person presence, broadening the demographic of their clientele. Also, the team is committed to promoting gender equality within the studio opting for an inclusive, non-intimidating approach in contrast to the traditional rough and tough image.
One of the key design highlights of the Victims of Ink website is the integration of embedded videos. These video profiles can be found on the home and artist pages, offering visitors an immersive experience and glimpse into the creative process behind the scenes. They not only showcase the artists at work but also give a sense of the studio's inviting and inclusive atmosphere.
In the age of social media, Victims of Ink has gone a step further by incorporating a live multi-artist Instagram feed into their new website. This innovative feature leverages Instagram as a powerful marketing tool, allowing each artist to have their personal artist Instagram feeds showcased directly on their respective pages. This provides visitors with a dynamic, real-time connection to the studio's artists and their specialities, further enhancing the website's engaging and interactive nature.
